Courage is leaning off to one side and toward the back. She seems to be reaching as far as she can go. She has a butterfly in her stomach to show she is nervous about her stretch. From the side she is off balance and before too long you can imagine she will land on the ground. Courage is like that in life. Each day presents new challenges we must overcome, and many times we are not sure if we are up to them. We don't usually have the option to forgo the challenges that come our way though.

I used a red patina on Courage. Red is the color of action. I aged the piece with crackle paint and dust from my vacuum bag to make it look like a relic.
