Art Deco Guardian of Motherhood

This is the third in my series of six Guardians. She represents my thoughts about how the pain of losing a child is felt at all economic levels. Mothers with money, fame, and influence feel the same sense of emotional pain as those who are less fortunate. It was fitting that as I was working on this particular doll, the news was suddenly filled with the tragic death of Ennis Cosby. I felt a bond of sadness with his mother, Camille. I knew it would be a long time before her life would be normal again. She is now one of us - and to lose a child in such a senseless way must add to her grief. As I pondered others who have had money, power, or influence that have lost children, I think of Mary Todd Lincoln and her little Tad. I think of a lady I greatly admire -- Anne Morrow Lindbergh - and the disappearance of her baby. Throughout time, the unexpected loss of a child has saddened the hearts of many mothers who seem to live charmed lives. They miss their children just as any other mother, and unfortunately for them, they have to deal with the added trial of media attention at the same time.

This is the only Guardian of the six that has not found a home. It is a bit unusual, so I figured it would take someone special to love it. The resin figure is leafed with 20 K. Manetti gold leaf. The piece is designed to be hung on a wall. A stand is provided if that is not possible.
