She sits on a moon that is studded with rhinestones that came from a collection of stones taken out of my Grandmother Stipe’s jewelry. My Grandma Stipe was raised in Chicago and was quite a woman. She loved going to auctions and to yard sales. She looked very young for her age even at 92. She was very active in senior citizen groups and traveled extensively throughout the world. She was also a lucky lady. She won several international trips in raffles drawings. Moonmaid’s tail is beaded and accented with tiny Swarovski crystals. Her fin is made from silk that has been wired and painted and studded with more crystals. Her hair is made of dyed light blue Tibetan lamb. Her eyes are porcelain which have been enhanced with added hand painting to give them more depth. Life is a delicate balancing act and she reminds us of that as she perches precariously on the moon. Remember to tell those you love how much they mean to you each day. That way you will not have regrets.
